Things You Can Do On A Digital Piano

Evidently, you can play music on a digital piano, this being its main purpose. But a digital piano, although it might not sound exactly as an acoustic piano, comes to complete this lack in sound quality with quite a variety of options, opening a variety of possibilities.

There are many other things that you can do with a digital piano, and here are some of them.

Make it sound like other instruments. Digital pianos, like the Yamaha DGX640W for example, has an option for changing the voice of the keyboard, making them sound like a violin, guitar, sitar or harp. Not only that hearing a certain musical piece played on a different instrument can be a lot of fun, it also enlarges your musical repertoire.

Record your music. Well, you can record your music, regardless of what instrument you're playing, in many ways nowadays with all the means of technology invented. Digital pianos have a built in recording option though, and you can do this by the simple push of a button.

You can connect it to a computer. The USB port(s) of a digital piano open quite a lot of possibilities. Not only that via an USB port you can easily record the musical pieces you play on your computer, or transfer your recorded music onto the piano on your USB drive, you can also work directly with a music computer software, modify music etc. Via a USB connection to a computer you can input notes into a notation software for example, by simply pressing the appropriate keys, this being quite helpful when working on long pieces.

Accompaniaments. Almost any digital piano has a database of background rhythms and accompaniaments which you can find very useful in creating music, or very fun to play around with. Also, you can import them on a computer and use them with a musical software in other forms of music.

Practice using headphones. Especially if you share a building with other people, they may not want to hear your music every time. With a traditional piano, you probably won't be able to practice late at night without your neighbors knocking on your door. The headphone option is something that any digital piano has. Therefore you can play it anytime, without bothering anyone. Plus, hearing your music on headphones may help you improve.
